Organization/Member Spotlight

Tell us about your organization.

Our mission is to provide professionally trained service dogs at no cost to wounded veterans who have honorably served our country.

Our veterans volunteered to serve and protect our freedom, we now serve to help them regain theirs through a holistic approach focused on mind, body, spirit, and relationship building. We utilize rescue dogs at every opportunity with no financial burden to the veteran through a continuum of care. This disciplined approach provides the opportunity for our dogs to assist veterans in their healing journey, challenging them daily to be the best version of themselves.

Will you share a success story or impactful moment that illustrates the difference Dogs for Our Brave makes in the St. Louis region?

One in ten veterans alive today has suffered a serious injury while serving in the military. At this year’s National Association of Service Dog Providers conference, it was revealed that only 1% of service dog organizations in the U.S. specialize in mobility service dogs, including emotional support for PTS—and Dogs for Our Brave is part of that elite group. There is a significant gap between the number of severely injured veterans who struggle to perform daily tasks independently and the availability of mobility-trained service dogs to help them regain that independence. Our work is critical in addressing this need. Because each veteran has unique challenges, our dogs receive specialized training to ensure their skills match those of the veteran they are paired with enabling them to live more independently, without relying on family or others for daily assistance.

How can individuals and the community get involved or support Dogs for Our Brave?

If you are passionate about dogs, veterans, and saving two lives at once, we invite you to join the fight! From volunteering to hosting a fundraiser, fulfilling a wish to give back days, corporate match programs to legacy giving; we invite you to explore the opportunities below and consider becoming part of the Dogs for Our Brave community today!
